Donna Gleason TLC Dog Trainer provides in-home dog training, group classes, and behavioral modification services for those clients seeking her assistance. Donna’s basic training philosophy is based on the expectation that every owner will provide Training, Love and Commitment (TLC) when working on their dog’s behavioral issues. Donna is committed to making sure her recommendations, suggestions, and strategies are always individual to her clients’ needs, with the focus on improving the human-canine bond.
Donna has a Master’s Degree from Fairfield University and is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu - Jesuit National Honor Society. She is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (), Certified Professional Dog Trainer (), Canine Good Citizen and STAR Puppy Evaluator, and a therapy dog evaluator for Pet Partners and Paws for Friendship.
Donna is Head Trainer/Evaluator for K9 First Responders and works alongside her
dog Socrates and Winston providing psychological first-aid when deployed to crisis response situations ().
Donna has extensive experience in sheltering and rescue work and has worked with many rescue organizations assisting them in developing programs and tools to identify what is needed to increase each dog’s individual adoptability and reduce recidivism. Also, Donna is active with “That Newfoundland Place” () and does in-home checks for potential adopters.
Currently, Donna has been asked by the World Pet Association to speak in their 2018 tour, where she will be offering several seminars discussing how to develop, manage, and maintain, a successful dog training business.
Living in Northern Fairfield County, Donna’s favorite activities are camping, hiking and hanging out in the Catskills (with her family and three dogs) and playing the drums!
